Our installation range was 8–12 weeks and our panels were up running a few days prior to 8 weeks since we signed the contract, meaning they were slightly ahead of schedule. I was wary of all the door-to-door solar companies; the fact that Dominion’s model was not commission-based, and its stability and long-term history as a company, made going with them the obvious option. Eli was very thorough in our initial 15-minute phone meeting. He reviewed details about our house, energy bills and the Google Earth view of our house and surrounding tall shade trees. He told me at that point that the payback period would be probably several years longer because of the trees. Three days later he emailed me the formal report confirming that solar would not be a money saving opportunity for us because of our shade trees. I appreciate his thorough analysis and honesty. Dominion Energy Solutions was great, highly recommend them. I talked to many other solar companies and DES was the most honest and thorough. Many other companies out there are looking to rip you off, I’m not sure how it’s legal, but that is the current situation, and that is why anyone thinking about solar should talk to DES. I went with DES for many reasons including their high ratings, thorough and honest process, high quality equipment, and knowing they will be around long term. They also had the best and most straight forward financing option. If you are going to finance a solar system, then I would look no further than DES, most other companies have financing options that are shockingly bad. Solar is not for everyone and DES will explain that to you and will be honest if it’s not a good investment for your situation.
